Wednesday, January 22

I was achy and tired ALL day today.  I don't think my body likes the huge shifts in weather that we've been having.  It's just not fair to go from 40 degrees to negative temperatures in a day or two.

UGH, and I hate being a hormonal wreck.  I just felt a little weepy through most of the morning.  Over nothing!

The one thing I don't like about this outfit is the weird fit of the skirt.  I don't think it looks weird when I see myself in a mirror, but when I look at pictures, my hips look very weird and dumpy.

Striped Top: Gap
Skirt: Marshall's
Necklace: Forever 21
Flats: Vince Camuto from Dillard's

Tuesday, January 21

My students were antsy today, and I was very hormonal.  These two things should never match up on the same day.  I'm sure I seemed super strict to the students and they seemed off-the-wall to me!

I felt all super-sexy in this outfit even though it wasn't really racy at all.  The "tights" I wore aren't actually tights but knee-high socks in disguise!  The problem was that my skirt would ride up a little and show the sock (I found out), so I went without socks once I realized this at school.

Top: Buffalo Jeans from JcPenney
Skirt: Forever 21

Socks: Target

The Weekend: Friday January 17- Monday January 20

I didn't post much this week.  To be honest, my outfits felt uninspired and recycled.  You'll see what I mean when you see the few pictures I've decided to post from the last few days.

I think I'm ready for spring so that I can have some different clothing options!

Friday was spirit day.  We got to wear jeans if we wore a school shirt.  Done.
T-shirt: school
Jacket: Kohl's
Jeans: Se7en from Lane Bryant
Booties: Target

This is what I wore to church on Sunday.
Dress: Kohl's
Cardigan: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: eBay
Boots: Lane Bryant

This is my Monday outfit. I tried the half-tucked look.  Not sure if it's working or not.
Top: Gap
Jeans: Se7en from Lane Bryant
Monogram bracelet: Altar'd State
Silver Bracelet: Target
Mocs: Indian Trade Store in OK
Gray Cardigan: Charlotte Russe

Wednesday, January 15

I was so excited to find this cute lace shift dress.  I liked it just as it was, but I might try belting it next time.    The jewelry I wore seemed to be made for each other, even though I didn't even buy them at the same store.  Also, ignore the photo bomb by my dog; he can't be more than a few feet away from me at any given moment.

Necklace: Francesca's

Tuesday, January 14

I love when I get back from having a substitute and I have a note saying it was a great day!  The only sad thing is getting feedback from my students about the substitute merely handing out the worksheet and then sitting down and ignoring them for the rest of the hour.  Now, I don't expect a sub to know how to teach my content area.  But I *do* expect them to be smarter than a fifth  tenth grader and I expect them to be perfectly capable of reading directions and helping the students understand what they are supposed to do.  And I especially don't expect said person to get paid to sit at my desk playing Candy Crush all day.

GRRR….

Okay, here's the outfit.  I am linking up again with Danielle for Trendy Tuesday.  Today's trend was coral.  Since I already planned to wear this top, and I didn't see the post about what today's trend was until this morning, I just switched out my original plan of necklace for the coral one.

Top: Dainty Hooligan
Necklace: Target
Pants: Marshall's
Boot Cuffs: Etsy
Boots: Lane Bryant

Aren't the patches on this top just adorable!?

Randomness: I tried my curling wang again yesterday and I think it turned out a little better than the first time.

Monday, January 13

I spent all day in waiting rooms, I feel like!  I took the day off for a dentist appt and then a dr appt.

I stopped by the school on my way home to check the sub notes and it sounds like she had a good day, which is awesome!

Purple Sequin Tank: Kohl's
Plaid Shirt: Old Navy
Cardigan: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Forever 21
Pants: Marshall's
Loafers: Aerosoles

I could not for the life of me find a pair of shoes I liked with this outfit.  Maybe I should have switched to jeans.  I really did not like the way these pants looked with this outfit anyway.  I felt ugly in them.

Sunday, January 12

I wish I could sleep in and still not feel cheated out of half of my weekend!  I still need to write lesson plans and grade.  I have the day off tomorrow though for a dentist and dr appointment.  I can't be the only person to try and schedule everything on the same day so I don't have to take two different days off of work, right?  :)

Dress: LOFT
Dotted Top: Kohl's
Necklace: Francesca's
Belt: Ann Taylor
Tights: Walmart
Mocassins: from an Indian Trade store in OK

I tried curling my hair today using my new curling wand.  I was hoping for an easier way to get my loose curls that I get when I use my straightener as a curler.  I was hoping they'd turn out like this:

More of a VS Soft curl is what I wanted.

This is what I got instead:

More of a Taylor Swift curl.

Any ideas on how to use my tapered curling wand?  I've watched about a million YouTube tutorials and yet my hair still turned out like this.  I know I could just continue to use my hair straightener, but I DID buy the curling wand.  So…. :)  And sorry I had to smudge my face.  Not that I ever put anything inappropriate on here, but I'm not ready to be recognized yet (even though I'm pretty sure only a few people actually read this blog).

Saturday, January 11

Sleeping in, exercising, running errands…it's been a typical Saturday for me.  And guess what?  I'm rocking some fourth day hair over here thanks to some dry shampoo and the fact that my curls have stuck around so long.  I don't think I'll even try fifth day hair.  Although I could if I put it up in a ponytail or a bun…  My hair seems to be healthier when I don't over-wash it.  :)  You can't see much of it in the photo, but it's still looking just fine.

Purple Dress: Kohl's
Cardigan/Shrug: The Limited (super old--at least four years!)
Necklace: I think I bought it at Rue21, but it is also very old
Shoes: TOMS ballet flats

Friday, January 10

This is going to be a quick post.  I'm in a bad mood and I don't know why.  I had a great day at work.  I got complimented about a million times on my sweatshirt.  I found this to be funny because, come on, it's a sweatshirt with lace.  It's not exciting at all.  But you never know what will tickle the fancy of the masses.

Sweatshirt: Forever 21
Jeans: American Eagle
Necklace: Kohl's
Booties: Target (actually I think they are technically house shoes, but don't tell anybody!)

And, thanks to Danielle at A Little Bit of WoWe, I am rocking my third-day hair.  YESSSSS.

Thursday, January 9

I had a completely different outfit planned for today, but I just wasn't feeling in the mood for it.  I pulled this outfit out of the closet instead.  I am a little ashamed to admit it, but I have over a month's worth of outfits already planned out.  At least I don't have to do much thinking at five in the morning, when I'm still groggy and I'm lucky not to trip on the dog toy on the way to the closet.

I took some advice from the lovely Yasi at Hello Gorgeous.  She suggested that, in the cold winter months, you wear your warm boots in and out and change into your awesome, pretty shoes once you get inside.  Why was this such a duh moment for me?  How did I not think of this, ever?  Anyway, I've been doing it this week, and it has been awesome.  And by week, I mean the past two days I've been at work.  The thing I love most about it is that I have been able to change into my comfy booties as soon as the students walk out of the room.  :)

Wednesday, January 8

Today was the first day back to work.  We had two days off for freezing temperatures.  Today was actually a really good day with the kiddos.  I made most of my classes read silently for most of the class period and they did wonderfully.  I love my good students!

I went for jewel tones and lace today.  If you look closely, even my necklace is lace-like.  I got it at Francesca's when they were having a buy one, get one for $5 deal.  I got a necklace for my mom, and then one for myself (naturally).  I wore my kitten heels with this outfit, but I think my booties would have looked just as cute--I just can't wear much of a heel when I'm on my feet all day.

Green Top: Express
Lace Skirt: JcPenney
Necklace: Francesca's
Black Fleece-lined Tights: some store in NYC that I cannot remember
Kitten Heels: Union Bay

Monday, January 6

No school Monday due to temperatures: it was -32 with windchill most of the day.  And yes, that is a negative sign in front of the numbers.  I had to venture out to get a space heater to prevent my pipes from freezing up in the garage.  Thankfully, it has worked so far.

I wanted to wear something warm, so skirts and dresses, my go-to outfit pieces, were out of the question.  I stuck to comfort and simplicity.  I love the fit of these blue pants and wear them quite often. The black top is loose and yet not too loose, a bonus when you (*ahem* I) eat to much at Christmas and need to hide the resulting weight gain.

Scarf: bought from a street vendor in NYC
Black Top: H&M
Blue Pants: Kohl's
Brown Boots: Born (bought at Dillard's)

School has also been canceled for Tuesday.  I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.  I've already cleaned the house multiple times.  I don't want to leave when the wind chill is so very cold, even though I have things to do in my classroom.  I feel like I'm playing hooky!

Saturday, January 4

I have a confession to make.  If left to my own devices, this is the type of outfit I will choose to wear.

Gray Sweater: Forever 21
Black Yoga Pants: Target
Animal Print Scarf: The Mustard Seed
Tan Booties: Target

It is comfortable.  It is stretchy.  It is warm.  And it is extremely ugly.  But guess what?  Today I just didn't care.  This is what I chose to wear.  Honestly, I only threw on the scarf to head out to Walmart and Walgreens to pick up  a few things before the snow hits.  It's my last weekend before school starts up.

I spent all afternoon planning lessons.  Tomorrow I need to go to school and rearrange some things in my room.  Time for a fresh start!

I should have warned everyone that I would be out of town for Winter Break.  I left on the 21st to visit family and had little to no internet access for the past two weeks.  It was wonderful.  Minus the really bad cold I had on Christmas!
