Tuesday, August 6

I went to lunch with some friends today and enjoyed hanging out and not getting anything done.  I won't get the chance to do that for too much longer!

I bought this dress at Goodwill of all places.  It was only $4.50 and even though I don't wear strapless dresses, I thought this one was super cute.  Imagine my surprise when I checked online and saw that this exact same dress is still being sold at Old Navy online for $30!!

I will have to wear a shirt either over or under this dress if I want to wear it to work.  Can't be showing cleavage!

Dress: Old Navy (found at Goodwill!)
White Shirt: Kohl's
Necklace: Loft
Blue Sandals: Payless

Monday, August 5

I had never shopped on eBay until this week.  I know, I know.  But I finally did it and I'm so glad I did!  I got a pair of Ariat booties for less than $50.  They just came in the mail, and here's a picture:

I'm so excited to wear them this fall.

Today was an easy, throw on a dress day.
Black and Green Dress: JcPenney
Shrug: JcPenney
Green Necklace: Dustee's
Sandals: Target

I couldn't help trying on my new boots with the outfit:

So excited about them!

Sunday, August 4

It was such a busy day that I didn't get home until close to midnight.  That's why this post is a day late!  I met up with a friend for lunch to celebrate her birthday and it ended up turning into an all-afternoon hang-out-and-run-errands time.  Then I met up with another friend for dinner and a Shakespeare play in the park.

It was such a great day.  It was overcast all day but didn't rain, thank goodness.  This outfit went from church to lunch to running errands, to dinner, to sitting in the woods watching a play and nothing was wrinkled at the end of the day.  I have to say I was quite impressed by that.  I will have to wear this again to work on a day I have to stay late.

Mint Top: Kohl's
Maxi Skirt: Marshall's
Leopard Belt: Ann Taylor
Leopard Flats: Target
Star Necklace: gift from my grandmother
Monogram Bracelet: Altar'd State

The pictures don't really do this outfit justice.  It was much cuter in person than the pictures show.  In the pictures it looks sloppy, unkempt, and ill-fitting.  That is not how it looked at all.

Saturday, August 3

I had a family reunion to attend today.  It was great and I got to see some of the husband's family that I hadn't seen since our wedding.  It's hard to believe that was NINE years ago!

I got lots of compliments on this outfit and kept getting told I looked eighteen.  People kept asking if I got mistaken for a student.  I'll take the compliments, although my husband thought it must mean he looked old.  Sooo funny, but not to him.

Dress: Band of Gypsies from Marshall's
Shrug: Fashion Bug
Neon belt: Loft
Necklace: Wet Seal
Pink bracelet: Target
Monogram bracelet: Altar'd State
Sandals: Merona from Target

Friday, August 2

I had a meeting with the new teacher and another colleague from my department today.  I wanted to give a good first impression, plus I had to meet with my principal to have some questions answered.

Thursday, August 1

I finally wore this dress as more than a swimsuit coverup today.  I don't know why I never wear it as an actual dress.  It's not too short and I love the pattern.  I think I get into patterns for how I wear things in my closet and sometimes it takes me realizing I could wear it a different way.

Also, it's amazing what a belt can do to pull together an outfit.  Here's the dress sans belt:

And here's the dress with the belt.  In my opinion, there's a pretty big difference.  For one, the dress immediately became a little shorter.  Also, the outfit wasn't so boring.  All that orange needed a different pop of color.  I could have paired this with a cute pair of navy sandals, but I don't own a pair of navy sandals and I am just staying around the house today so it didn't matter.

Orange dress: Kohl's
Orange cardi: Mossimo for Target
Belt: stolen off a pair of my shorts
Silver arrow necklace: Wet Seal
Orange flip flops: American Eagle for Payless

Please ignore the back end of my dog who ended up in the picture.  He refused to move.  Gotta love him.

Back to School Shopping: Outlet Mall

Yesterday was so much fun!  I enjoy shopping with other women.  They understand the process, unlike my very loving, very sweet husband.  He doesn't complain, but he just isn't much help.  A girlfriend will tell you if something does not look good.

I went into the shopping with a list of things I wanted to buy.  I am including my list, highlighting the things I still want to find.
tanks/camis in white, cream, black and navy
pencil skirts in neutral tones
white belt
brown braided belt
leopard belt
army jacket
moto jacket in black, white, or grey
leopard scarf
sweater-like cardis
flat ankle booties

Here's my haul, broken up into different pictures so I could fit it all in:

This photo is half of what I got at the Loft outlet.

Camis (white and cream): BOGO, $10/each
Grey pencil skirt (hard to see in this picture--it's the darker spot): $27
White spotted calf hair belt: $14.99
Neon yellow belt: $9.99

Pink and white cap sleeve sweater: $5.99
Blue crochet dress: $39.99
Long gold necklace: $18.74
Long mint necklace: $18.74

Then it was to Ann Taylor Outlet and Banana Republic Outlet:
Black tank (BR): $5.10
Leopard belt (BR): $17.49
Beige sweater (AT): $24.99

This wasn't actually at the outlet mall, but I did stop at Maurice's to get the army jacket I had been salivating over!
It was BOGO 50%, so I got both the grey cardi and the army jacket/blazer for $30/each

The J.Crew factory didn't have much this time around (it seems like either I love everything in that store or absolutely nothing).  But I did find this gorgeous necklace.  It may be my new favorite.  It has the beautiful rose and light grey stones in it that make it look so elegant.
With my teacher discount and the 50%, I paid about $18.

Now to save up my money for some ankle booties.  So excited for fall!
